Although many fans might consider Disneyland or the Walt Disney World Resort their go-to-getaway, Disney Cruises are much more than meets the eye. With several ports from Canada to Singapore, tourists can travel the world with Mickey and the gang in the lap of magical luxury.
Most of us hardcore Disney fans are familiar with the water slides, Character Meet and Greets, and warm beaches of Castaway Cay seen in most of Disney's advertisements. However, Disney has gradually added more and more experiences catering to a very specific and expanding audience: the Disney Adults.
Disney Cruise Line changes with the tides
As Adrian The Cruise and Travel Guy shares in the footage above, a voyage on a Disney Cruise without the kids can be an ideal adult getaway. As remarkable as it might be to see more adult-oriented experiences like dining and adult-only spaces included aboard the ships, there's one detail that should get more attention.
With the inclusion of more and more adult-focused spaces like the new Haunted Mansion bar aboard the Disney Treasure, it feels like Disney is slowly shifting its prime directive towards a growing market of older fans. But you won't find that in many of its advertisments.
Moreover, many other Disney influencers and content creators (example here) continue to push this relatively new aspect to the forefront. Since Disney has made no secret about how nostalgia keeps the company relevant with its special merchandise and live-action remakes, it might be in the company's best interest to further embrace the adult fans.
Families with children will always support Disney, but it's the adults who buy the tickets. So, why shouldn't Disney go all in? We're not saying we expect another Jessica's of Hollywood or anything, but the fact that Disney goes the extra mile to even include adult-only spaces truly speaks volumes.
In this writer's opinion, it's almost like the powers that be at Disney know how much of a hold they have on our cultural consciousness. So, why not keep the magic going even into adulthood. With some Disney Cruise plans growing cheaper than a week at the parks, it's not out of the question by any means.
