Disney has just offered the first peek at the Hulu/Disney+ 2025 slate, which has some fantastic new offerings!
Disney has had their issues with Disney+. The streamer has had difficulty with adding subscribers, issues of budgets and the controversial decision to remove many shows from it. That pertains to Hulu as well, although the latter benefits from having more studios involved in airing past programming and movies.
Things are turning around with Disney combining the two streamers into one and a partnership to add HBO too. Disney looks to have things set as a brand new “sizzle reel” celebrating the fifth anniversary of Disney+ has offered a peek at their 2025 TV slate, which includes the first looks at some huge projects!
Returning favorites are hot
The teaser includes the first looks at some of the biggest returning shows. Chief among them is Andor, as the acclaimed Star Wars series is back for its final season. It looks to be amping up the action and excitement of the drama while also revealing an April release date.
Also coming is The Handmaid’s Tale, the final season of the Emmy-award-winning dystopian drama starring Elizabeth Moss. Given the current political climate, one can argue the series has never been more timely and likely going out with a wild turn.
Also coming back is Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which should adapt the second book in the best-selling series as Percy and his friends face a new challenge of the gods. Fresh off its multiple Emmy wins, The Bear will also be back for Season 4, while Goosebumps returns with David Schwimmer anchoring a brand-new story.
New shows are going to be epic
The reel also shows the new series that will be coming to the streamers. It’s a prequel set 30 years before the first Alien movie and it appears the classic idea of a pack of space explorers coming across the vicious Xenomorphs. It also shows how the creation of the androids of the franchise began.
Having established himself as one of the hottest actors in Hollywood, Glen Powell now moves into TV with the new comedy Chad Powers. He plays a hotshot college football quarterback whose bad behavior gets him expelled from his Division I school. Unable to quit, he disguises himself as a goofy freshman to enroll in a small Southern school and try to become a star again.
Good American Family has Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo in a drama based on the real-life Natalie Grace case of a couple adopting a Ukrainian orphan with dwarfism only to claim the girl was really an adult conning them.
