Mickey Mouse is an absolute icon, and he's practically a face we've recognized since birth, but it takes more than ink and paint to bring him to life. From Walt Disney to Bret Iwan, many talented performers stood behind the mic as Mickey, but one might be trading his mouse ears sooner than we think.
Chris Diamantopoulos is one of the current actors behind Mickey, having voiced him in Paul Rudish's Mickey Mouse series, and he just went on the record sharing his sights on a coveted role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
From Mickey to Marvel
Although this writer would chalk Ray Alwine up as the definitive Mickey, Diamantopoulos has given the mouse a much zanier flavor in recent adaptations. So, imagine the disconnect when he voiced in an interview with The Direct that he would love to replace Willem Dafoe as the next Green Goblin.
Per The Direct,
"I would be very good in the in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Yeah, I do definitely. I was born going to Silver Snail comic shop. That's like one of the first place I ever went when I was a little kid, little baby. I've been a comic fan, a Marvel fan for my entire life, passed that on to my son. He's a crazy comic collector, particularly 80s and 90s stuff. But I think that they should make a series called 'Goblin,' and it should be about Norman Osborn leading up to becoming the Green Goblin. And I should be Norman Osborn."
Diamantopoulos is far from a one-trick pony. Mickey might be his most famous role, but he's had a varied and successful acting career both on-screen and behind a mic. Having starred in projects like Invincible, Blood of Zeus, and Harley Quinn, he definitely has some heroic and comic-book-styled experience.
While this is all purely the wishes of a dedicated fan and gifted performer, that doesn't mean the mouse isn't listening. Diamantopoulos has been on Disney's payroll for a long while, and it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility. Stranger things have happened.
Do you think he could pull it off?
