Even if you've never heard his name, you know Tim Burton's work. The mastermind behind such iconic films as Batman, Beetlejuice, and The Nightmare Before Christmas has done more than just leave his mark on the world of film and animation, he's reinvented entire genres.
Having cut his teeth on Disney films like The Fox and the Hound and The Black Cauldron before directing gothic wonderlands, Tim Burton truly has a magnificent story. Now, director Tara Wood brings us into the mind of a mad genius with a new four-part docuseries celebrating the eccentric filmmaker with an eclectic cast of familiar cast members.
Behind Burton
The announcement from The Hollywood Reporter went out just yesterday, and we're absolutely ecstatic. Especially considering just how many former collaborators are reuniting to celebrate the filmmaker.
Johnny Depp, Danny Elfman, Winona Ryder, and Michael Keaton are just a few famous faces shown in the trailer above, and more are expected to join. While we don't know much beyond the featured footage, the report shared the following information.
"The first look at a four-part, authorized documentary about the life and work of Tim Burton has been unveiled. The documentary, from director Tara Wood (21 Years: Richard Linklater), features some of the biggest stars to appear in Burton’s filmography..."
The report goes on to add,
"The still-untitled series marks 'the first time the famed director has supported a project about his work and includes exclusive interviews, unpublished artworks and a never-before-seen stop-motion short film,' according to a statement."
While there's not a lot to go off of at the time of writing, this writer can't wait to see this revealing and intimate look at the creative process of the mind behind the worlds of Wonderland, Halloween Town, and many more. Moreover, many of us are also wondering how much it will speak on his time at The Walt Disney Company.
While there is still much to be learned from this new development, hundreds of fans are keeping their ears up for more as the series nears its debut date. Hopefully, it will be a weird and wonderful experience.
