Destination D23 week kicks off with reveal of Disney Treasure today
It's Destination D23 week! The biggest Disney fan event of the year runs from September 8 through September 10 and promises behind-the-scenes stories, special guest performances, and sneak peeks at the company's future as we celebrate 100 years of Disney.
In anticipation of the event, Disney plans on making a few special announcements ahead of time. Disney promises to share an update on the Zootopia-themed land coming to Shanghai Disney Resort as well as more information about the World of Frozen at Hong Kong Disneyland.
But it all kicks off today with the virtual reveal of Disney Treasure, the newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. The reveal, which was supposed to take place on August 30 but was delayed due to Hurricane Idalia, will begin today, Tuesday, September 5, at 11 a.m. ET.
Disney will be streaming the grand reveal online, but you can tune in below. Disney promises new details about Disney Treasure while showcasing "the world-class dining, immersive family entertainment and unique spaces" aboard the ship. We may even get to see the highly anticipated Grand Hall, which pays homage to the land of Agrabah from Disney's Aladdin.
As for Destination D23, the weekend will feature dozens of panels dedicated to the various Disney brands, including Marvel, National Geographic, and more. The highlight, of course, is A Celebration of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.
In this panel, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro and special guests will offer a glimpse into the future of Disney parks, featuring updates and fun surprises. With Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Tron now open at Magic Kingdom in Disney World, it will be interesting to see what's next. We may even also learn exactly when Journey of Water, the Moana-inspired walkthrough attraction at Epcot, will open.
Those of us unable to attend the panel live will be able to stream it at home. Check out the full D23 schedule for this year here.
