Summer may be upon us but the Disney parks are already getting ready for Halloween! Not only is Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party coming earlier this year but has some new surprises to boot!

Once upon a time, Disney actually waited until September to start their Halloween parties. That's changed in recent years as the Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is coming in August. And this year, it starts even earlier.

Per Disney's site, tickets for the 2024 event go on sale May 8 and the event kicks off on August 9th, running 31 nights through October 31.

  • August 9, 13, 16, 20, 23, 27, 30
  • September 2, 6, 8, 10, 13, 15, 17, 20, 22, 24, 26, 27, 29
  • October 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 14, 15, 17, 18, 20, 21, 24, 25, 27, 29, 31

As always, this means closing down the Magic Kingdom except for guests with special shows and the Disney's Not-So-Spooky Spectacular fireworks and Mickey's Boo-To-You Halloween Parade as well as all-ages trick or treat trails throughout the park. There's also the annual Villains Spelltacular with the Hocus Pocus characters.

Disney does have a few new touches for this year though to try and spark things up:

  • Brand new costumes for Disney characters, with Mickey and Minnie boasting some glow-in-the-dark spider-themed costumes.
  • More villain meet and greets as Maleficent, Cruella de Ville, Jafar and others roam the parks for surprise meets with guests.
  • The DescenDANCE Party, taking place at Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland is a rave inspired by the upcoming Descendants: The Rise of Red movie. Guests, mainly younger ones, can take part in a wild dance contest.
  • Bruno from Encanto will get his own separate meet and greet alongside Mirabel at their Casita in Fairytale Garden.
  • A new earlier start time for the "Boo-To-You Parade" will allow younger guests to watch without staying up too late.

It may be more than a bit jarring to do Halloween celebrations when Orlando temperatures are in the 90s, but Disney loves to celebrate early.

Other Disney Park Halloween events

While WDW gets the focus, other Disney parks will celebrate Halloween as well. Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party will return to Disney California Adventure for 27 nights, starting Sunday, August 25. That includes their own parades, parties and more.

* August 25, 27, 29
* September 3, 10, 12, 15, 17, 19, 22, 24, 26, 29
* October 1, 3, 6, 8, 10, 13, 15, 17, 20, 22, 24, 27, 29, 31

Hong Kong Disneyland will actually wait until September 12 to begin their festivities, bringing back House of De Vil-lains, the "Let's Get Wicked" show, and the Nightmare Before Dinner experience. Disneyland Paris starts later than that, with the Disney Halloween Festival running from October 1 to November 3. Finally, the Tokyo Disney Resort will stage Disney Halloween from October 1 through November 7, with new theming and entertainment at Tokyo Disneyland.

Also, the Disney Cruise lines will have "Halloween on the High Seas" parties. And Disney showed the first peeks at the Haunted Mansion inspired bar for the upcoming Disney Treasure.

Tickets will go on sale for the U.S. events later this week and once more, it seems Halloween is starting earlier than ever for the Disney parks.
