Ranking every D23 Disney Park announcement in the level of our excitement!
Fans expected D23 to have some big announcements. But Disney outdid all expectations with a stunning array of new attractions for Disney parks around the world. Even better was Disney making it clear these aren’t “blue sky” ideas, every one of these is in development with construction on many expected to begin this year or next.
It’s astounding to see how every park is going to get something. Walt Disney World, in particular, is making new additions, no doubt to counter Universal’s Epic Universe park opening next year. It’s hard to narrow down, but here’s a ranking of each new Disney park attraction, from least to what’s gotten us most excited, as Disney is ready to roll out some fantastic guest experiences for the next few years.
14. Stark Flight Ride
This looks like a ride more akin to the old Innoventions. It’s meant to be Tony Stark’s testing lab with guests put in simulators of various heroes talking them through stuff. The robot arms swinging about look fun and it appears to use some screen tech yet overall, this is more a “side ride” for Avengers Campus than the larger and fancier attractions.
13. Mandalorian/Grogu Falcon Ride
The Millenium Falcon Smugglers Run ride isn’t bad but the story is a bit weak with the fun being handling the controls. So having it be like Star Tours shifting the story is good and adding the Mandalorian and Grogu makes it better. It makes sense they run into Han and Chewie on some job and get involved in a battle against baddies to make the ride more exciting than a random chase. If this is the start of a new version of the Run taking guests on different journeys, it can make this ride even better and spark up Galaxy’s Edge.
