If there's one character who could be labeled as the face of Marvel Comics, it's our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. While it's been some time since we've seen Peter Parker swing into action on the big screen, Tom Holland recently shared a new update on his next MCU outing.
At this year's Cinema Con, audiences were given a sneak peek at 2026's upcoming movie releases, and there are certainly a lot of high expectations from Disney, Star Wars, and Marvel. At the time of writing, we now have confirmation on Marvel Studios' fourth Spider-Man film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Can you feel a "Brand New Day?
Diana Ross jokes aside, the fourth Spider-Man film in the MCU franchise sees Peter Parker taking a fresh start after the events in No Way Home. Tangling with the likes of Doc Ock, Green Goblin, and more is a tough act to follow, but director Destin Daniel Cretton seems pretty confident in the new project
Per the The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Holland was seen in a video for the film, stating that it was a "fresh start" for Spidey. Additionally, Cretton shared that the film would be "a ride that we haven't seen before." That said, comic book fans might already be ahead of the game.
The title, "Brand New Day," is a reference to an arc in the original Marvel comics where the world forgets that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. After the events of the previous film, this makes for a perfect segway into an adaptation of the source material (with some artistic liberties).
While we might not see the same interactions with characters like MJ, Aunt May, and J. Jonah Jameson. We will certainly see a world of friends and allies who have forgotten all about Spider-Man. This makes an ideal springboard for both Peter (and Marvel) to reinvent himself for a new lease on life.
While we can't say much about the film's plot at this point, it undoubtedly leaves a lot open for the filmmakers to play with. The original comic gave Spidey a great deal of internal character development, along with a new face under the Green Goblin's mask and the introduction of the villain, Menace. To say there aren't a lot of possibilities would be grossly untrue.
Unfortunately for us, we likely won't see much development until we get our first trailer. Until then, we have more than enough time to bone up on our comics and catch up on the rest of Spider-Man's cinematic escapades.
