Dinner and roses with your significant other are perfectly fine ways to celebrate Valentine's, but many star-crossed lovers often overlook just how many romantic activities and locations the Disney resorts can offer.

Granted, Disney hasn't exactly been promoting the parks as a place where guests "can feel the love tonight," but the Walt Disney World Resort offers a whole lot more to see, do, and enjoy than just the iconic theme parks and a hug from Mickey and Minnie.

For the love of Disney

Take it from a veteran Park Hopper with years of experience; there are so many things Disney doesn't advertise at the parks. In this writer's opinion, February is the best time to go. The very slight lull in the tourist season and the decreasing temperatures make schlepping through the Magic Kingdom a breeze, but that's not all the parks have in store.

Although kids and families are the mouse's prime demographic, there is so much for adults to enjoy, especially if they're looking for a romantic getaway. Case in point, look at the promos Disney used to run back in the '90s seen in the footage below.

As shocking as it might sound, being a Disney Adult isn't an entirely new concept. Although Pleasure Island and Splash Mountain kinda went the way of the dodo, the ad above makes several good points about what couples can experience at Disney. This also wasn't the first time this concept would be used either.

While times have definitely changed since the '90s, the sentiment remains the same. Disney has more than ample opportunity for couples to enjoy their stay just as much as the rest of the family. One thing this ad campaign did that still rings true today is mix the more traditional Disney experiences with a little more grown-up flavor.

The ads show some of the more adult-oriented resorts like Fort Wilderness, the EPCOT center, and examples of fine dining and activities in and out of the theme parks. That's precisely what makes Disney such an underappreciated romantic destination.

Fine dining, nightlife, and fireworks are certainly familiar date night activities. However, when they're mixed with the magic of Disney, it can make for an unforgettable experience couples can cherish forever and ever.
