As demonstrated by Chilli in the "Relax" episode, sometimes we all forget how to just hang loose and let go. Whether you're one of her younger fans or one of the millions of grownups who have given in to the Bluey craze, the show's mellow and low-stakes theming makes it one of the most relaxing shows on streaming.
With the recent developments surrounding Bluey's future at Disney, many fans are brushing up and re-watching their favorite blue heeler, but it doesn't always have to be a massive binge session. Take a load off and enjoy some of our favorite relaxing Bluey episodes.
"The Beach" (Season 1, Episode 26)
Doesn't it always feel like every successful animated series has a beach episode? Tons of people enjoy lying out in the sun and enjoying the waves, and the Heelers are no different. Why not enjoy the surf with this episode in the background?
The plot is exceedingly simple; all Bluey wants to do is catch up to her mom while walking on the beach. With the scenic ocean backdrop serving as the setting and the cuteness of Bluey and her quest, it's hard not to be lulled like the waves in this season one pick.
"Sleepytime" (Season 2, Episode 9)
If there's one Bluey episode that seems to be universally beloved, it's "Sleepytime." By its title and premise alone, it's undeniably the most relaxing Bluey episode on our list.
Anything set in the Heeler house towards the close of a day is a solid pick for a relaxing episode, but this psychedelic trip across the stars is an absolute dream. The soothing and heartwarming visuals paired with classical music by Holst are just too perfect to resist. It's best to give this one a watch at the end of a hard day.
"Bin Night" (Season 2, Episode 32)
A little bit of an acquired taste to some, but an underappreciated gem for those who let themselves sink into the Bluey routine. It's this use of routine and repetition that makes it such a calming pick, even if it's not the most dynamic episode.
There's a reason that the slice-of-life genre is such a favorite in books and anime, and "Bin Night" is Bluey's answer to the trope. Watching Bandit, Bingo, and Bluey go through the motions of taking out their bins and hearing about their day might not be exciting, but it's a sweet way to make viewers feel like part of the family.
"Rain" (Season 3, Episode 16)
Sometimes, the best stories are told without saying a single word. Case in point: "Rain." This episode might not have any dialogue, but its whimsical visuals and folksy soundtrack make for a relaxing experience both audibly and artistically.
Again, we have a ridiculously simple premise. It's just Bluey playing in the rain, but the visual storytelling is so charming and sweet that we can't help but get sucked in. Easily one of our underrated favorites.
"Relax" (Season 3, Episode 40)
It might be at the bottom of this page, but it's perhaps the one most people need to start with on this list. As stated in the introduction, sometimes we can get so swept up in our routines that we forget to find time to relax. Enter Bluey and Bingo who teach Chilli how to just let things go.
It's cute, it's wholesome, and it comes with a poignant message about self-care. Sometimes, we need to take a little holiday, take a deep breath, and "just go about it" with our favorite cartoon dog.
