Bluey and Bingo might be the poster children for the beloved Australian animated series, but parents Chilli and Bandit have more star power than many might think. Often called a show about parenting that kids can watch too, Mum and Dad play just as much of a role as the two pups.
After Bandit's voice actor and Custard frontman, Dave McCormack, recently had his time in the spotlight, Melanie Zanetti came on CNN with her thoughts about the show and her time behind the mic as Bluey's mum. CNN shares further details in the footage below.
Mother Knows Best, Chilli Opens Up
Zanetti has been the voice of Chilli Heeler since the series began, and she continues to maintain the role even after the show's third season. While arguably not as popular as her male counterpart, the actress' involvement has done wonders for the field of animated moms, even landing her on the cover of Australia's InStyle magazine.
In the interview, Zanetti shares how she won the part almost entirely by chance and just how much it means to continue to bring the role to life for millions of viewers. That's all very sweet and special, but this writer was taken by her comments about the show's success.
Bluey has dominated our screens for years and is about to make a major splash on the silver screen as Disney and Ludo unite for a feature film in which Zanetti will reprise her role. However, the actress made a comment about the series that absolutely speaks volumes.
Zanetti states,
"It doesn't matter who you are or where you live in the world, the stories resonate because they're so truthful and funny and true to life. They're so beautifully told, the animation's gorgeous. There's a lot to love."
If Disney or any other animation studio needs pointers on how to make a highly successful animated series, pay attention to Bluey. Joe Brumm and his team of writers and animators have truly struck gold with the formula they've created.
As the series readies for its feature film (and its inevitable fourth season), the footage from Zanetti might be an inkling into the production's process. During a time when many fans feel that Disney might meddle too much with Bluey's magic, this could be a reassuring tonic for Bluey buffs everywhere.
All episodes of Bluey can currently be streamed on Disney+ and ABC iView.
