The brand new Deadpool & Wolverine is now in theaters with scores of impressive cameos and wild turns. It also answers the big question of who Lady Deadpool is!
Caution: This article contains SPOILERS for Deadpool & Wolverine
The new Deadpool & Wolverine brings back Ryan Reynolds as the infamous “Merc With a Mouth.” This new film has Wade Wilson retiring only to be pulled into a misadventure by the Time Variance Authority from Loki. They warn him his reality is going to be destroyed with Wade trying to save those he loves. That sends him on a quest to recruit a variation of Wolverine (once more played by Hugh Jackman) to clash with the evil Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin).
The movie boasts some surprising cameos from various Marvel characters as well as a multiverse of Deadpool variants. Among them is the one getting fans excited, Lady Deadpool.
Who is Lady Deadpool in the comics?
Like many a Marvel Comics character, Deadpool has often run into multiverse versions of himself. The biggest was in 2010’s Deadpool Corps event with Wade meeting a pack of alternates that included a little kid, a zombie and even a dog.
Lady Deadpool is Wanda Wilson from Earth-3010, where an evil version of Steve Rogers rules as the dictator General America. She has quirks, such as preferring to stay indoors and having a rather unhealthy fixation on an actor. Like the regular Deadpool, she has a superhuman healing factor and is an expert at various weapons while also being completely nuts.
The character made a few appearances before seemingly sacrificing herself but given this is comics, it’s a good bet she’ll somehow return.
Who plays Lady Deadpool in Deadpool & Wolverine?
As soon as the trailer showed Lady Deadpool in costume, fans speculated on who could be playing her. Amazingly, Taylor Swift was a major candidate with Ryan Reynolds openly joking about it. Other names included Anna Faris, Margot Robbie and Amanda Seyfried.
Well, the movie is out and without spoiling Lady Deadpool’s role in it, the actress is pretty much the most obvious pick: Blake Lively. She doesn’t show her face, but her voice is recognizable and can be identified in the closing credits.
The actress is best known for her role as Serena van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl and films such as The Shallows. Lively was a likely bet due to the fact she and Reynolds are married in real life, co-starred in 2011’s Green Lantern and the actress has openly teased her somehow appearing in the movie.
It’s just one of the many cameos that make Deadpool & Wolverine a wild ride that celebrates the cameo well.
