Resort refurb singes skyliner (consider other lodgings)

The Value Resorts are some of the best deals on Disney property, but a recent refurb might lead to transport trouble.

While they might not be as fancy or elaborate as some of the deluxe models, the Value Resorts at Walt Disney World are some of the most marvelous places to enjoy the magic. However, a recent refurbishment announcement might throw a monkey wrench in the plans of many guests.

Disney’s Pop Century Resort is where Disney magic takes guests through the decades, and nostalgia is the name of the game. Unfortunately, a year-long refurb has taken the venue off the menu, and it might be the source of many upcoming headaches.

Problems for Pop Century

Along with Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and the All-Star resorts, Disney’s Pop Century is one of the many hotels for guests looking for the bare necessities but still with the magic of the Disney Parks. “Value Resorts” they might be, but they are still a great way to get the full Disney World experience.

Price and atmosphere are both valid reasons to enjoy the Value Resorts, but Pop Century and Art of Animation have one massive leg up over all the rest. As affordable as the All-Star options are, they lack the coveted access to the Disney Skyliner.

In this writer’s humble opinion, the best way to experience a solo trip to the parks is by staying at a resort with the Skyliner only a walk away. While Disney has complimentary access to all its parks and Disney Springs, only a few resorts offer this trip above park property from the resorts to both Hollywood Studios and the rear entrance of EPCOT.

It’s for this reason that potential Disney Park guests planning their next trips might be thrown for a loop, particularly if they’re on a budget. After all, all magic comes at a price.

We’re not going to sugar-coat it. Disney is expensive, that’s just the way of the world. With only one of the Value Resorts able to utilize the Skyliner, that’s undoubtedly going to cause some conflict for many parties.

Although Disney’s Art of Animation is still one of the cheapest options at the time of writing, a $2,415.98 standard room package is still a steep fee. Not to mention, if it is the only Value Resort with Skyliner access, it will likely lead to overcrowding and room scarcity.

The good news is that this refurb for Pop Century is temporary, and everything should be back to normal after 2025. The drawback of that is that many regular Value Resort customers might have to postpone their trips. Supply and demand are still a thing, even at the wonderful world of Disney.

Although Pop Century is off the table, Disney still offers many wonderful Value Resorts to experience the magic at a more affordable price.
