Zootopia 2: Look who's back! (so far)

Nick and Judy are back for Zootopia 2, but they aren't the only ones making a long awaited return.

Zootopia is, at least in this writer's opinion, one of Disney's most underrated films (despite its massive financial success). After almost 10 years, we're finally getting a sequel in which Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) and Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) are on a brand new case.

Yesterday, Disney dropped the official trailer for Zootopia 2. Along with an absolutely infectious EDM soundtrack, the trailer also revealed some new and old friends joining the party. While there were some fresh faces featured in the trailer (seen below), we were excited to see more than a few familiar figures in the cast.

Look who's back!

The trailer slaps, pure and simple. While new characters like Gary the Snake (voiced by Oscar-winner Key Huy Quan), are an absolute delight, the montage of characters around the teaser's finale are sure to nab many viewers in just a few seconds alone.

In the trailer, viewers are shown many of Zootopia's districts, as well as some new residents such as a beastly boar cop in a SWAT uniform and a delightful lynx with a charming smile. However, it would seem that many of the original cast are coming back after nearly a decade out of the urban jungles.

We'll keep things brief, since we only have a teaser trailer to go by, but longtime fans will recognize more than a few friends towards the video's end. By order of appearance, we see:

Mr. Big - Zootopia's resident miniature mafioso, likely played again by Maurice LaMarche.

Clawhauser - Our favorite, fat, donut-loving cheetah from the ZPD.

Gazelle and her dancers - Basically, Shakira in anthropomorphic animal form is joined again by troupe of large, overly-muscular tigers.

Flash the Sloth - The lovable, slow-laughing, drag-racing, tree dweller from Zootopia's DMV.

Yax - The zonked out, mellow manager of the Naturalist Club

Bellewether - The deceptively sheepish villain from the previous film, still clad in her prison jumpsuit.

Stu and Bonnie Hopps - Judy's parents, likely recovering from their high-speed train adventure seen in Zootopia+

Duke Weasleton - The sneaky, shifty, and silly con artist giving us our obligatory Alan Tudyk appearance.

Fru-Fru - Mr. Big's Snookie-inspired daughter, still sporting that massive hairdo and diamond ring.

Chief Bogo - Massive and intimidating as ever, the big buffalo is likely the driving force of the ZPD in a whole new investigation.

Finnick Fox - A surprising addition in light of Thomas "Tiny" Lister's passing, Finnick is still pushing the baby routine and now donning a bunny suit.

Long story short, Disney has packed a lot of fun into just over a minute, but the thrills are just getting started. Unfortunately for us die-hard fans, we'll still have to wait until November before we get our next Zootopia fix fulfilled. Even so, the hype train has definitely left the station with thunderous applause.

Zootopia 2 debuts on November 26, 2025.
