Disney offers another wave of Disney+ shows on Blu-Ray for a great holiday buying pack
Disney is unveiling another slate of steelbook Blu-Ray releases of Disney+ shows just in time for the holidays! Find out what you can get!
Much has been made of the decline of physical media with studios concentrating more on streaming services. That includes Disney, which ended its long running Disney Movie Club and shying away from Blu-Ray releases as of late.
However, the company is still keeping it up with special 4K steelbook releases for some top Disney+ shows. A wave of them hit in 2023 but today Disney announced a new quartet of shows hitting stores on December 3rd so here’s a rundown!
The Mandalorian Season 3
Fans were a bit divided on this season of the Star Wars series yet it had some big stuff from guest stars like Jack Black and Lizzo to delve more into the workings of how the Empire becomes the First Order. There’s also expanding the story of Mandalorian culture and a big showdown that may set up the upcoming The Mandalorian and Grogu movie.
The extras in this set are notable for a tribute to the late, great Carl Weathers and special looks at the making of the show:
- Honoring the Magistrate: A Tribute to Carl Weathers — Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni pay tribute to Carl Weathers, the unforgettable talent behind Greef Karga.
- Galactic Legacy: The Creatures and Droids of The Mandalorian — Discover the secrets of Season Three’s memorable creatures and droids with the artists who bring them to life.
- Forging the Covert: Part Three — Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni and the filmmakers explore the expanding world of Season Three’s Mandalorian warriors.
Ahsoka Season 1:
At last, Star Wars fans were treated to the return of former Jedi Ahsoka Tano. The adventure brings not just Ahsoka (Rosario Dawson) to life but also several characters from Star Wars: Rebels in Hera, Sabine and, of course, the iconic Star Wars villain Grand Admiral Thrawn. With a second season in the works, the extras look to flesh the tale out.
- Ahsoka: Legacy — Join cast and crew for a look at developing Ahsoka’s live-action series.
- Path of the Apprentice — Explore the dynamic of Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka within the world between worlds.
- Ghosts of the Past — Go deep with a spotlight on Ahsoka’s allies: Sabine, Hera, Ezra and Chopper.
- Darkness Rising — Uncover the secrets of Ahsoka’s foes.
Hawkeye
Interestingly, this is labeled as “The First Season” despite no word on the second. This acclaimed series has Jeremy Renner back as Clint Barton, who becomes a mentor to young Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld). The pair embark on a Christmas-centered adventure that leads to a clash with a famous Marvel foe and one of the MCU’s best TV entries.
- A Tale of Two Hawkeyes — Discover how the cast and crew extended the Hawkeye legacy, bringing together Clint Barton and new character Kate Bishop.
- Gag Reel — Take a look at some of the hilarious outtakes on set with the cast and crew of Hawkeye.
- Deleted Scenes: A dozen that flesh things out including flashbacks to a younger Kate and Clint’s relationship with his mother.
Loki Season 2
The second (and seemingly final) season concludes the tale of the God of Mischief, as Loki races across the universe against time to keep it from unraveling. The extras include the Disney+ Assembled entry on the making of the show.
- Loki Through Time — Travel through over a decade of Loki’s timeline with Tom Hiddleston, Kevin Feige and more as they dive deeper into the villainous yet lovable character that fans can’t get enough of in the Loki series.
- Gag Reel — Take a look at some of the fun moments on set with the cast and crew of Loki Season 2.
- Deleted/Extended Scenes
- Assembled: The Making of Loki Season 2 — Join the cast and crew of Loki Season 2 as they pull back the curtain on Loki’s Iatest MCU adventure.
Each set comes in a fancy steelcase with wonderful artwork and some touches like trading cards. All four sets will be set for pre-order on October 31st with December 4 release dates. So for those who still love TV shows in physical form, this quartet of Disney+ series should be a big buy!
