Disney just dropped a new announcement for Galaxy's Edge, and Chewie might want to hold on to those boosters.

Say what you will about some of the sequels, but there's no denying that Disney has worked wonders with Star Wars when it comes to expanding the lore. With shows like The Mandalorian, Andor, and Skeleton Crew, the galaxy has gotten a lot bigger than in Luke and Leia's time.

The series has become such a staple that a theme-park addition was inevitable, but one of the most popular chapters is preparing to take over Batuu in a new way. Or should we say, "This is the way?"

The Mandalorian and Grogu steal the Millenium Falcon

@disneyparks shared on its official Instagram footage of Mando and Grogu exploring the grounds around Han Solo's Millennium Falcon, teasing their introduction into the ride. However, it might be more than just a guest appearance.

At the most recent SXSW conference, Jon Favreau and Imagineers Leslie Evans and Asa Kamala shared new details during the Future of World-Building at Disney panel.

Per Favreau,

“One of the cool things about Disney is how we can tell our stories in so many different formats... We’re already taking Mando and Grogu from the TV screen to the movie screen, and at the same time, [The Mandalorian executive producer] Dave [Filoni] and I are working with Asa to bring this story to the Disney parks, too.”

Just as Disney incorporated Ahsoka Tano into the attraction in its most recent update, so too will the cast of The Mandalorian have a role to play. More details and an official first look can be found on the Disney Parks Blog.

That's all very exciting, and Star Wars fans should be over the twin moons of Tatooine, but let's look at the bigger picture here. Disney isn't just adding these characters on a whim but to hype fans up for the upcoming spinoff film, The Mandalorian & Grogu set to hit theatres in 2026.

This isn't just going to take fans on a journey across the galaxy but introduce them to a taste of the newest Star Wars film. Forget about a teaser trailer, this is a much bigger way to get fans' attention. Given the juice that Filoni and Favreau have given the franchise, this won't be the only development out of Lucasfilm for the new project.

The Mandalorian & Grogu hits theatres next year, and the whole series can be found on Disney+.
